Today there is a lot of talk about the
environment. All nations are coming to an agreement to save planet earth. We
pollute the earth, we pollute the water; emotions. We have become a victim of our greed and needs. We are
not in country of our mind. We hear a lot about others thinks in life but we
spend very little to hear about ourselves. How to handle our mind ? How to be
in the present moment ? How to be happy and grateful ? This we have not learnt.
This is the most unfortunate thing. Then what is the solution ? this is where
we are reminded of very fundamental
principle that governs our environment , our mind, our emotions and our life is
general.
Our body has the capacity to sustain much longer the vibration of bliss
and peace than it does negative emotions because positivity is in the centre of
our existence. As with the structure of atom, protons and neutrons are in the
center of the atom and electrons constitute only the periphery; the same is with our lives; the centre core of
our existence is bliss, positivity and joy but it is surrounded by a cloud of
negative ions. Through the help of the breath we can easily get over our
negative emotions in a short period of time. Through meditation and certain
breathing techniques, we can clear the negative cloud.
This life has so much to offer to you. You
can see this once you take some time off, rejuvenating
the soul. Your soul is hungry for a smile from you. If you could give
this, you feel energised the whole year and nothing whatsoever can take the
smile from you.
Everyone wants to be successful in life. But
without knowing what is success, you want to be successful. What is the sign of
success? Just having a lot of money, is that success ? Why do you think money
means success? Because money gives you freedom so that you can do whatever you
want. You may have a big bank balance, but, you have stomachaches, ulcers, you
may have to go for bypass surgery; can’t eat this, can’t do this, can’t do
that. We expend half of our health. Is this success? In fact, it is very bad mathematics.
Look at the those who claim to be
successful-are the successful? No, they are miserable.
Then, what is the sign of success? It is confidence, compassion, generosity and
smile that none can snatch away, being really happy and being able to be more
free. These are the signs of a successful person.
Take some time off to look at a little deeper
into yourself and claim the mind down. Thus erasing all the impressions that we
are carrying in our minds and experience the divine that is the very care of our existence.

Write short answer to the following
question in about 75 words each. 5x2=10
a)
Why did the writer go back home after twenty
years ? (My Old Home)
Ø The writer
returned to his old home after twenty years to bid it a permanent farewell and
to relocate his family to another place where he worked. Despite the passage of
time, the village had not seen any improvement, leading to a sense of
despondency. His visit prompted a flood of memories from his youth to middle
age, highlighting the conflict between cherished memories and the harsh
realities of the present.
b)
According to the author, what are the
different things that Nepal has given to the west ? (The Half Closed Eyes of
the Buddha and….)
Ø The
author highlights Nepal's contributions to the West, including ancient
artifacts like Purans, tools, ivory ornaments, palm leaf manuscripts, and
copperplate inscriptions. These cultural treasures reflect Nepal's rich
heritage and historical significance. Additionally, the narrative emphasizes
Nepal's spiritual influence through stories of Manjushri and the profound
impact of Buddhist teachings. Through these cultural exchanges, Nepal has
enriched the global community with its traditions, spirituality, and diverse
cultural heritage.
Or
Why
was the author, biased towards science ? (On libraries)
Ø The
author, biased towards science, was influenced by his upbringing in a family of
scholars and intellectuals. Surrounded by a wealth of literature, including medical
texts and classic works of literature, he developed a deep appreciation for
knowledge and learning. His educational experiences in libraries, coupled with
his voracious reading habits, fostered a strong affinity for scientific
inquiry. This bias towards science was further reinforced by his academic
pursuits and professional career as a neurologist, shaping his worldview and
intellectual interests.
c)
Whom does the poet call ‘poor’ creature and
why ? (Every morning
I wake)
Ø The poet,
Dylan Thomas, refers to the ordinary inhabitants of Under Milk Wood as
"poor creatures" due to their inherent vulnerability and dependence
on divine mercy. In Thomas's portrayal, these individuals face the struggles
and uncertainties of life, reliant on the blessings and protection of God to
navigate their existence. The term "poor" encapsulates not only their
material circumstances but also their spiritual need for guidance and support
in a world fraught with imperfection and uncertainty.
d)
What makes the author conclude that morality,
art spirituality and creativity are universal human abilities embedded in our
DNA ? Give your opinion. (Humility)
Ø
The author's conclusion stems from the observation that
morality, art, spirituality, and creativity are recurring themes across diverse
cultures and historical periods. Yuval Noah Harari likely draws on evidence
from anthropology and evolutionary psychology to argue that these traits are
deeply ingrained in human nature rather than culturally conditioned. By
emphasizing their universality, Harari underscores the fundamental similarities
among humans, advocating for a more humble recognition of our shared humanity
and collective heritage.
Or
Do
you agree with the author that wisdom is more important than knowledge ? Why or
why not ? Give reasons. (Knowledge and wisdom)
Ø
I don't entirely agree that wisdom is inherently more
important than knowledge. While wisdom guides the practical application of
knowledge, both are indispensable. Knowledge provides the foundation upon which
wisdom is built, enabling informed decision-making. However, wisdom without
knowledge lacks substance, and knowledge without wisdom can lead to
misinterpretation or misuse. A balanced integration of both is essential for
effective problem-solving and ethical decision-making in various contexts.
e)
What role does the ‘letter’ have in the play
‘(A matter of Husbands) ?
Ø The letter plays a pivotal role in "A Matter of
Husbands" by Ferenc Molnar. It serves as evidence presented by the earnest
young woman to the famous actress, indicating her husband's infidelity. The
letter causes the actress to blush, initially denying any involvement. However,
it ultimately leads to the resolution of the misunderstanding, as the actress
convinces the young woman that her husband is merely trying to make her
jealous.
3.
Write long answer to the following
question in about 150 words each. 2x5=10
a.
As the chief of the local governance unit of
your country, what would you do to address the feeling of the women like Julia
de Burgos? Explain. (I was my own Route)
Ø As the chief of
the local governance unit, I would prioritize addressing the concerns of women
like Julia de Burgos by implementing comprehensive policies to promote gender
equality and empower women. This would involve initiatives such as increasing
access to education and economic opportunities for women, implementing laws and
programs to combat gender-based violence, and ensuring equal representation and
participation of women in decision-making processes. Additionally, I would work
to raise awareness about the importance of challenging patriarchal norms and
stereotypes, fostering a culture of respect and support for women's rights. By
creating an environment that values and protects the rights and dignity of
women, we can strive towards a society where women like Julia de Burgos feel
empowered to pursue their own paths and aspirations freely.
b.
Do you think it was the right step that
monsieur Durand took at the end of the play? Why, why not ? justify your
opinion. (facing Death)
Ø No, Monsieur
Durand's decision to set the house on fire and poison himself was not the right
step. While he may have believed it was a solution to provide for his
daughters, it's a drastic and irreversible action with severe consequences.
Ending his life not only leaves his daughters without a father but also
destroys their home, potentially leaving them homeless. It doesn't address the
underlying issues within the family or offer a sustainable solution to their
financial struggles. Seeking alternative support, such as counseling or
community assistance, could have been more beneficial in addressing their
challenges and finding a way forward together. Ultimately, Monsieur Durand's
actions perpetuate the cycle of tragedy and despair rather than resolving their
problems.
Or
Recall Runtu’s
case in the Chinese society. Also decide whether the living conditions of
average Nepali people at present are getting better or worsening. Now, explain
your position with examples. (My Old Home)
Ø Runtu's case in
"My Old Home" reflects the struggles of many in Chinese society,
grappling with poverty, social inequality, and economic hardships. Similarly,
in present-day Nepal, living conditions for average people vary. While some
indicators suggest improvement, such as increased access to education and
healthcare, others point to worsening conditions, including poverty rates and
political instability. For example, despite progress in infrastructure
development, many Nepali citizens still lack access to basic amenities like
clean water and electricity. Additionally, economic disparities persist, with
rural communities often facing greater challenges than urban areas. Overall,
the trajectory of living conditions in Nepal is complex, with both positive and
negative trends shaping the landscape.
